How to keep going in a tough real estate market

Staying positive during this challenging real estate market can be really hard. Especially when prospective buyers and sellers disappear, sales fall and finding someone new to talk to is an impossible task.

So what can we do to keep on going?

Here are a few points that can help

  • Stop comparing - Last year is gone, so has the year before that and the one before. Forget the past. This is the market we are in there is no point in comparing. We need to accept it and work with what you have.

  • Remember you faced challenges before - Remind yourself that you have handled tough situations before, even if it was not sales-related. Think of a time when you turned things around. It will remind you that “Yes you can!”

  • Ask questions - Ask yourself

    • What could I be doing differently?

    • What are other salespeople doing that is working?

    • What else can I do to get more business from my existing clients?

    • How can I change what I do so I get a different response?

    • How can I help my prospects gain more confidence in the market?

  • Try new things - Now is the time to try new things. You have more time and less work, experiment! Try things that scare you. Maybe videos, maybe new technology, maybe door knocks, maybe more networking. Do the things you thought you should do but never got around to them.

  • Be patient - Things will turn around your listings will sell and buyers will buy. It is a process. Have patience and keep on going.

It is hard to stay focussed in a tough market, hopefully these few points will help.
